🥳 Instagram adds Buying/Selling NFTs directly to app

In one of the biggest product announcements of the year: Instagram is adding buy/sell NFT functionality.

It’s currently being rolled out soon to users, and is powered by Arweave (a product we feature later in this post).

Why This Matters: Current Web3 initiatives from major social networks have been on NFT verification (like displaying you own X NFT in your Twitter or Instagram profile).

This recent update is huge: as it goes past verification and adds the ability to trade NFTs directly in app.

Type of Product: Data Storage

Purpose of Tool: Arweave is a new type of storage that backs data with sustainable and perpetual endowments, allowing users and developers to store data forever – for the very first time, truly. Arweave allows users to remember and preserve valuable information, apps, and history indefinitely. By preserving history, it prevents others from rewriting it.

On top of the core Arweave data storage layer, sits the permaweb. The permaweb is a collection of interlinked documents and applications just like the traditional web except all contents are entirely permanent.

Team / Funding / Backers / Other Info: Just today, Arweave is partnering with Meta to store non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on Instagram, the protocol’s CEO and co-founder Sam Williams announced on Twitter. In response, ARUSDT saw 61% gains over the last 24 hours to lead the top 100 tokens.

Arweave has accumulated total funding of $13.3, $5M of which came from a seed round led by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz back in 2019, gaining another $8.3M from Andreessen Horowitz and USV in the following year.

Matcha is brought to you by 0x Labs. Just last April 2022, 0x Labs raised $70 million at an undisclosed valuation in a Series B round led by Greylock Partners and including NFT marketplace OpenSea.

Revv.GG

Revv has streamlined the claiming process of POAPs and NFTs which you can also use right through the live chat on Twitch, making it easy to reward members of the community.
